Welcome to the place within the Great Big Circle where ideas get tossed around, where news is spun and where random thoughts on branding, design, arts and entertainment get their turn in the spotlight.

A Construction Fence

We like to think good design (and great communication) can be found everywhere. From trashcans to billboards, communication should be simple, direct, and fun. And it all matters.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts had a dilemma - how to transform a dirty construction site into a community-wide communications forum? How to include all people – not just well-to-do art patrons – in the huge promise of the Performing Arts Center? Great Big Circle was brought in to deliver on those goals. We worked with the PAC to enlist the help of hundreds of local school kids. Artworks from these leaders of tomorrow, combined with our design, helped create a fence that was both an enclosure and an open invitation to participate in the PAC's vision for both the future of art and the growth of the community it serves. The unveiling was attended by hundreds. But when the Center opens in a year or so, its opportunities will be enjoyed by thousands.

Great Big Circle organized, managed, and executed the construction fence, and also provided supporting design and graphics for the unveiling event that was attended by hundreds.

It might be a year or so until the PAC is officially opened to the public, but that doesn't mean we can't start having some fun. Even on a construction fence.

The construction fence design spans the full area around the future-site of the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.

Attendees gather for live performances by local arts group during the unveiling event.

Local students review their work along the fence.

Local kids sign the construction fence board that will be kept on display on-site.

Let the Legend Begin

What makes an arena great is not just the building – it’s also the people who go there and the great moments that take place. So how do you promote an arena before it’s even built? With our “Enter Legend” campaign, we were able to project future great moments onto the new Amway Center with a consistent message that started long before groundbreaking. With every interaction, every experience, potential sponsors and ticket buyers were inspired to take their place in the legacy as it was being built.

In addition to the campaign itself, GBC's role included designing the Amway Center's logo system, creation of marketing and promotional collateral, event support, environmental graphics, production of videos and TV, and more.

Opening Gala

To celebrate the opening of the new Amway Center arena, the Orlando Magic put together a VIP Inaugural Gala, complete with entertainment provided by James Taylor and the Boston Pops. In search of an invitation as special as the night itself, the Magic turned to Great Big Circle. The result—invitees were treated to a unique, handmade box containing a commemorative bottle of champaign that was laser etched with custom artwork to mark the event.
